Lee County School District mourns the death of Mrs. Patricia Witherspoon

Lee County School District is saddened by the death of Special Education, Teacher Assistant, Mrs. Patricia Witherspoon. She passed away on Wednesday, March 17, 2021. Mrs. Witherspoon, a dedicated and loving educator, joined Lee County School District on November 12, 1973. She touched the lives of many during her 47 years of service with the district.

Witherspoon is a native of Lee County, South Carolina, and a 1971 graduate of Mount Pleasant High School. She served as a Special Education Teacher Assistant at Lee Central High School, Lee Central Middle School, Lower Lee Elementary School, and Mount Pleasant Middle School during her nearly half a century tenure with the district.

Interim Superintendent, Mr. Bernard McDaniel, Sr. stated, "I have known Mrs. Patricia Witherspoon for several years. She is an outstanding educator as well as a wonderful and kind person. She will be sorely missed by the Lee County School District family."

Lee County School District Board of Trustees, staff, and students join the family and mourning the loss of Mrs. Patricia Witherspoon. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, March 24, 2021, at 1:00 PM at the new McFadden Cemetery located at 1120 Park Ave., Otlanta, SC 29114.
